About Me ...

As a lot of photographers will say, I started my interest in photography at a young age.  I was about 7 or 8 years old, living on the east coast in Maryland, and I remember going to a yard sale at a neighbor's house up the street.  There, I found my first camera, an old Brownie.

From Maryland, we moved to New York, where my dad was stationed on Governor's Island.  I really wish I knew what ever happened to the photos I can remember taking as a child, from the crown of the Statue of Liberty and from the observation deck in the World Trade Center building.

Having moved back to Maryland as a pre-teen, my love of photography continued through junior high school, and into high school.  Although I took a couple of photography classes, I learned mostly through trial and error, which proved to be an expensive endeavor using film.  I recall taking a lot of pictures during high school, especially during my senior year, (which were recently used during my high school reunion.)

After high school, I attended Towson (State) University north of Baltimore, Md, where I continued my passion for photography and a degree in Mass Communications.  I also joined the university yearbook staff where I was able to gain more experience in both photography and associated writing skills and techniques.

After graduating in the summer of 1992, I moved to California in the spring of 1994, where I have continued my love for photography.  Through assistance (and good prodding from my wife Megan and my mother-in-law Barbara) I have been afforded the following opportunities:

- Brochure photos for a local restaurant, Giorgio's, in Greenbrae

- Brochure and photo slide show for Hospice of Marin

- Artist / exhibitor in Marin/Scapes art show and sale benefitting Buckelew

- Holiday arts and crafts sale at San Rafael Joe's restaurant

- Exhibitor and sales at Avante Hair Salon, Jason's Burgers, San Rafael Joe's, the Marin Builders Association, and the Marin Home and Garden Expo.

- Private direct sales

I have also had the opportunity to go places and see things that a lot of people in the United States have not had the chance to, whether due to a matter of convenience, the lack of money, time, ambition or some other prohibiting force.  I've been able to drive across the continental United States three times, and have had the opportunity to drive halfway across the country and back a handful of other times.  I love to take the "road less traveled" and utilize a 4-wheel drive truck, a dual sport motorcycle, a kayak, a canoe or just my feet to obtain just the right photo ... a photo that would normally elude the viewing of the "typical" traveler.

Because I have been able to do the traveling, I've decided to post my photos for others to see, in hopes that maybe they would be abe to see one day, something other than what is within the confines of a paved roadway, their town, county or state.  If not, I have helped show them some of the things I have come to take for granted ... the ocean beaches, mountain snow, the Golden Gate Bridge etc ...
